The Cashmere Cup is an invitational golf tournament held annually by The Evans Foundation in Atlanta, GA to help provide housing for organ, stem cell, and bone marrow transplant patients and their caregivers.
The foundation started after the death of Jeffrey Evans (a talented golfer), who did not receive a heart transplant in time. Jeffrey's feet were always cold in the hospital, so friends and family brought him warm socks and rubbed his feet. After he died, his brother said, "He deserved cashmere socks."
Every patient the foundation helps (over 200 since 2017) receives a pair of English cashmere socks, in addition to affordable housing in one of the foundations 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments.
The goal of The Evans Foundation is to build a 60,000 sq. ft lodge that helps dozens of families simultaneously. It will be known as The House That Golf Built and will resemble a classic golf clubhouse. It will include a putting green too.
